Pool related things.

Dear All,

Just a quick note to let you know that I haven't been doing any work this evening, which means that two things have happened:

1) There is a clare pool blog, which should hopefully help keep you up to date on match results/reviews, games, practices etc.
2) There is also a clare pool facebook group, which I encourage you all to join, simply for japes and good-times. Everyone loves a facebook group.

Also, it would be helpful if you all had a quick flick through the rules for both the Cambridge college leagues and the World rules that the games here follow:

League Rules
: you only really need to know rules 21-24

World Pool Rules: the basic things you should remember are:

  1. Any ball on the table must hit a cushion after the cue ball strikes a ball-on.
  2. Nominating when potting from the break. If you nominate the colour of a ball you potted on the break, then you are on that colour no matter what, but if you nominate the OTHER colour, you must pot a ball of that colour to be on that colour. Potting balls of both colours off the break = open table
  3. Calling total snooker and foul snookers - Total Snooker = if you cannot hit any of your colours with a straight line shot, then rule 1 here does not apply - you must call "Total snooker". Foul snooker = if you are snookered by an opponents foul you may either play a free shot (you may nominate the black, but if you pot it you lose the frame), or move the white ball to baulk. You must call "foul snooker".
  4. Two visits carry (even to the black) in all situations.

Thanks guys, and good luck to you all in future games. Let's see Clare shine this year!

Tom
